The Opportunity  

Under the direction of the Lighting Designer, the Associate Lighting Designer will implement and enhance the lighting of every studio and remote broadcast in support of the Broadcast Lighting Team. You will assist in the design process for any new installations or events with opportunities existing for leading smaller installations.

Your Impact

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled checks of set lighting

  • Replace any lamps or gel as part of an established preventative maintenance schedule

  • Support the execution of Remote Broadcast lighting in line with the Lighting Designer’s vision.  This includes work on-site, as well as equipment prep and truck loading & unloading.

  • Program the lighting consoles as necessary.  Understand all operations and functions of the lighting console.

  • Under the supervision of the Lighting Designer and Associate Lighting Designer, hang and focus any additional lighting equipment needed for new positions, specialty shows, or TSVs.

  • Utilize existing software to track times associated with specialty shows and additional programming or projects.

  • Utilize existing software to track the movement or installation of all lighting equipment.

  • Support the Lighting Designer in project development through research, paperwork, or demonstrations of equipment.

What You Bring  

  • Degree in television, film, theatre lighting and/or equivalent combination of training and experience

  • One to three years of recent active broadcast lighting experience is required, coupled with a working knowledge of technical elements.

  • CAD drawing experience is required. Vectorworks is a plus.

  • Must have some experience building lighting designs and systems, working with multiple fixture types, and utilizing existing knowledge to make educated decisions on new or unfamiliar equipment. 

  • Some experience with on-location or remote productions required. 

  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and stand for a long period of time

  • Ability to lift items weighing approximately 70 to 100 lbs.

  • Ability to work on elevated surfaces (i.e., lighting rafters, etc.).
