Your new role
Our client is seeking an Assistant Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and support a variety of groundwork and civil engineering projects across North Wales and the surrounding regions. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or early-career QS or Estimator looking to develop their skills in both pre-construction and project delivery, working alongside an experienced and supportive senior team.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with preparation of cost estimates, tenders, and pricing documents for new projects
Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including analysing quotations
Measuring quantities and reviewing project drawings and specifications
Assisting with contract administration and managing variations
Supporting project cost control, including valuations and cost reporting
Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and clients to support efficient project delivery
Maintaining accurate records and assisting with the preparation of final accounts
Conducting site visits as required to verify progress and support commercial decisions
What you will need to succeed:
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
1-3 years' experience in a quantity surveying or estimating role (internship/year-in-industry considered)
Strong numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and estimating software
A proactive attitude with the desire to grow and develop within a supportive team
Full UK driving licence preferred
