Your Role

Gensler Toronto is seeking a Healthcare Intern Architect, who is passionate about design, detail, and making a positive impact in the healthcare space. In this role, you will work closely with senior architects and designers to support the development of healthcare projects from early concept through construction documentation. You will produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members to ensure success. You’re a fit for this role if you have experience in construction documentation, are proficient in Revit, and enjoy working with a team of architects and designers that bring design dreams to life. This is a good role for someone who is technically proficient and enjoys working with a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence.

What You Will Do

  • Provide project team coordination for finished plans, specification, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the construction documentation
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director/Leader on overall technical delivery and problem solving
  • Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of project
  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction
  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
  • Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or interior design
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D modeling and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Licensure or NCIDQ Certification is preferred
  • 7-10+ years of related project experience
  • Strong interest in healthcare design and how architecture impacts well-being
  • Knowledge of building codes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field observation
  • LEED accreditation or working toward licensure is a plus
  • Self-starting, responsible, and highly motivated individual
