Senior Civil Engineer / Site Manager - High Voltage Substation - Civil Engineering – Construction - 24 month Contract / Freelance position
We are currently supporting a leading Irish renewable energy developer on a long-term contract opportunity delivering a major substation connected by underground cable and fitted with multiple transformers and associated switchgear.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of civil works associated with a high voltage substation

Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including ESB / EirGrid, EPC contractors, and OEMs

Develop and review civil design packages and ensure alignment with project requirements

Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and civil design documentation

Oversee construction activities on-site to ensure quality, safety, and programme adherence

Work closely with the Owner’s Engineer team to monitor contractor performance and compliance

Manage interfaces between civil, structural, and electrical teams across project phases
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Bachelor's Degree (or Equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related field

Minimum 5 years experience delivering high-voltage substations, civil infrastructure or comparable major utility-scale projects

Competent in producing technical designs, layouts, and drawings using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D

Experience working on active construction sites and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams

Track record of delivering reports and technical documentation to project teams and senior leadership
