Your Role
As a key member of the studio’s leadership team, the Project Director plays a critical role in integrating design, management, and technical expertise across specific projects. In close collaboration with colleagues, the Project Director ensures the successful delivery of high-quality projects that meet client expectations — a core principle of every Gensler engagement.
This role is responsible for providing design leadership, delivering exceptional client service, enhancing design quality, mentoring design talent, and supporting the firm’s profitability.

- Manage both client relationships and internal project teams, which may include a variety of consultants and collaborators across disciplines.
- Partner with other practice leaders within the region and across the firm to develop distinctive, recognized projects that bring value to clients and elevate Gensler’s design reputation
What You Will Do
- Work in conjunction with our Studio Directors and Other Directors in the Studio
- Participate extensively in the design process and be responsible for development and implementation of the design concepts
- This includes the quality and consistency of the design solution, integration and coordination with engineering disciplines
- Be responsible for working with the Local Design Institutes (LDI) to ensure that our projects are executed in a manner consistent with the original design
- Actively mentor and teach through formal and informal activities, which would typically include working in a collaborative manner and being supportive of both our expat and local staff members, and any other related responsibility as assigned.
Your Qualifications
- A portfolio demonstrating completed relevant projects on which the candidate was directly responsible for management of the client relationship and project team; For this position, relevant projects include interior projects for clients in the commercial office, corporates, etc.
- Experience developing relationships with new and existing clients that would enhance Gensler’s competitive advantage and positioning in targeted market sectors
- Experience in the development and direction of significant corporate/office projects, including those with “design excellence” criteria
- Experience with collaborative management of a corporate/office practice group or studio
- Proven leadership skills, including the ability to develop collaborative relationships that lead to successful results, whether within the firm (and across the platform of multiple offices) or externally — with clients, consultants, and other key participants in the design and development process
- Proven ability in creative strategy development and innovative problem-solving
- Management approach and methodology consistent with collaboration, consensus, and process-oriented design
- Strong presentation skills (written, oral, and graphic), with the ability to be articulate and convincing in interviews and other presentations
- A commitment to the principles of sustainable design and experience integrating them on specific projects
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and experience with BIM and Revit are also advantageous
- Demonstrate leadership by motivating employees to reach their individual potential
- Maintain a positive team environment by creating programs to boost morale
- Provide staff members with an “open-door policy” to allow individuals to feel free to communicate with you and other members of the management team
- Build staff capabilities through programs that improve individual skills and develop improved management and communication.
- Provide a creative, innovative and nurturing environment through your project team by developing an effective coaching/mentoring program
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Your Design Technology Qualifications
- Familiarity with the BIM project lifecycle through design, construction and operational phases.
- Experience in establishing and managing BIM teams for project design and delivery.
- Experience in managing design teams with Revit/Rhino/Grasshopper skills.
- Understanding of BIM deliverables and terminology in contracts.
- Experience in collaboration within the BIM context, including cloud-based markups, consultant coordination and clash detection.
- Understanding of the capabilities and application of Information Management tools such as Aconex, Asite, Newforma, etc.
- Understanding of real-time rendering processes within the context of BIM and parametric workflows
