Job Overview:

The VDC BIM Coordinator supports the development, coordination, and integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) across projects. Reporting to the VDC BIM Manager, this role ensures trade models are accurate, constructible, and aligned with Rex Moore standards and project requirements. The BIM Coordinator facilitates model coordination efforts across teams and partners, driving issue resolution and digital collaboration throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks:

  • Model Coordination & Development

  • Coordinate the development, integration, and management of BIM models across all trades and internal teams.

  • Populate and update BIM models with accurate design, coordination, and field inputs.

  • Manage federated BIM models to ensure cohesive and clash-free project deliverables.

  • Collect and review trade models from internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with project milestones.

  • Incorporate field markups, redlines, and as-built updates into the coordinated model in collaboration with the Superintendent/Foreman.

  •   Clash Detection & Issue Resolution

  • Perform clash detection and generate coordination reports using Navisworks and other tools.

  • Track and manage model coordination issues using issue-tracking platforms (e.g., BIM Track, ACC Issues, Revizto).

  • Generate clash reports, coordination logs, and conduct model health checks using tools such as Navisworks, Revit, and ACC.

  • Coordinate with the VDC Design and Constructability Manager to resolve constructability and detailing issues.

  •   Meetings & Collaboration

  • Facilitate coordination meetings with trade partners and internal stakeholders to review clashes, design updates, and model progress.

  • Lead model coordination efforts across all trades, including external partners, under the supervision of the VDC BIM Manager.

  • Collaborate with the VDC BIM Manager to align modeling efforts with project priorities and team resourcing.

  • Support project teams with BIM-related technical issues and documentation.

  •   Schedule & Workflow Management

  • Maintain model development schedules aligned with project milestones and the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).

  • Manage model file structure, version control, and user access across platforms (e.g., Revit, ACC).

  • Enforce project compliance with Rex Moore’s BIM standards, BEPs, and coordination protocols.

  • Ensure BIM data is accurate, current, and aligned with construction and coordination timelines.

  •   Field & Validation Support

  • Coordinate field validation efforts with Superintendent/Foremen to ensure models accurately reflect as-built conditions.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •   Knowledge

  • Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, CAD, Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred and/or Electrical Field Experience.
  • 3+ years BIM coordination/modeling.
  • Knowledge of construction documents, codes, and coordination processes.
  • Proficiency in Revit; working knowledge of Navisworks and ACC.
  •   Skills

  • Clash detection and issue documentation.
  • Strong organizational and file management skills.
  • Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Detail orientation in model population and updates.
  •  Abilities
  • Ability to manage smaller coordination packages under supervision.
  • Ability to apply field inputs into model workflows.
  • Ability to grow toward Sr. BIM Coordinator responsibilities.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
  • Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
  • Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
  • Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.
  • Frequently required to walk and stand. This position may involve infrequent site visits which will require the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof-read documents to identify errors.   
  • Required to use fingers and hands:  type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
  • May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
