We are looking for a Site Engineer to join a leading contractor (tier1) delivering essential public sector projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile schemes that require precision, quality, and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engineering & Site Management
· Set out works accurately using total stations and GPS, ensuring alignment with design drawings.
· Ensure all works are completed to specification, following quality control procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs).
· Coordinate with Section Engineers and Site Managers to ensure efficient project delivery.
· Support structural surveys and liaise with the design team to resolve technical issues.
· Implement and monitor the ‘Permit to Work’ system.
* Procurement & Cost Management
· Assist in material take-offs, requisitions, and delivery schedules.
· Monitor site reporting accuracy, ensuring cost allocations align with project budgets.
· Support subcontractor management, ensuring scope, quality, and safety compliance.
* Quality Control & Compliance
· Conduct surveys of completed work, ensuring compliance with contract specifications.
· Oversee inspections, maintain records, and ensure all check sheets are completed on time.
· Identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring best practices are followed.
* Health & Safety Leadership
· Ensure all works adhere to HSE regulations and company safety procedures.
· Lead by example in stopping unsafe working practices.
· Approve method statements and risk assessments, ensuring compliance throughout the project.
· Contribute to site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
* Digital & BIM Integration
· Support the use of BIM and digital construction methodologies.
· Ensure accurate record-keeping for "as-built" elements and waste calculations.
· Work with document control systems to manage project data and communication.
What We’re Looking For:
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Experience in setting out, surveying, and quality control within construction projects. Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations. Familiarity with NEC/JCT contracts and BIM Level 2 standards (preferred). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
