Description

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a critical role in the commercial success of major construction projects, taking full ownership of cost management, contracts, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, brings strategic thinking to complex challenges, and enjoys leading teams to deliver results. You’ll be deeply involved in all project stages - from tendering and procurement through to final account - while mentoring junior QS staff and collaborating closely with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial delivery of medium to large construction projects, ensuring profitability and cost efficiency

  • Develop, manage, and track project budgets and forecasts with precision

  • Oversee subcontractor payments, interim valuations, and final accounts

  • Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks, including claims and variations

  • Review and approve bills of quantities, payment certificates, and procurement schedules

  • Guide and mentor a team of quantity surveyors to support their growth and performance

  • Facilitate clear communication with clients, contractors, and project teams

  • Monitor project progress, provide accurate financial reports, and present commercial insights to senior management

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and BEE requirements where applicable

 

Profile

Requirements:

  • Degree or BTech in Quantity Surveying or Construction Studies

  • 5+ years’ quantity surveying experience on large-scale construction projects

  • Strong knowledge of contract law and standard forms (e.g., JBCC, NEC, FIDIC)

  • Proficiency in measurement, cost control, and financial reporting

  • Skilled in construction software and Excel-based reporting tools

  • SACQSP registration is advantageous
