Who We’re Looking For

A successful Master Carpenter enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and doesn’t shy away from honest and caring — yet sometimes difficult — conversations. This position is for you if you’re able to treat others with dignity, compassion, and respect, even in life’s most challenging moments. This individual will be responsible for completing small construction projects throughout the Gaudenzia portfolio. He will report to the Senior Director of Facilities & Construction. In this role the candidate is expected to be well versed and experienced in the following aspects of construction. Demolition, Framing, both metal and wood studs, drywall installation and finishing, working with plumbers & electricians, painting, flooring, finished trim, ceramic tile installation, window replacement, HM doors, and all aspects of construction.  Additionally, be familiar with masonry, tuck pointing, installing, footings, foundation, parging reinforcing concrete as per generally accepted practices.

 

You would be responsible to bring with you all small hand tools, power tools related to the performance of the work. Gaudenzia will provide all equipment, specialty power tools, scaffolding, and any other equipment necessary for performance of the work.

 

Possess all the knowledge necessary to perform small construction projects.

 

In addition to the work, you will be responsible for all related record keeping with regard to purchase receipts, tracking hours worked for the projects. Answering the company issued cell phone, and using you company issued laptop.

 

Ability to work largely unsupervised, calling your supervisor when questions arise and following through with directions given. All work should be done in a generally accepted practices for the task at hand. Our intention is that all work would be completed, correctly, with good workmanship and the end product work, would be the best available. 

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Ability to plan and execute projects in a clean, safe and productive manner.
  • Must plan ahead and set up safety barriers, caution tape and other safety measures where required.
  • Must be able to produce and follow schedule for the project at hand.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the work site, including clients, staff and the real estate there on.
  • Assist and monitor all other trades as required for the execution of the work
  • Maintains records for locations, hours worked, materials used and supplied purchased as required.
  • Maintains and retains all credit card receipts, performs monthly reconciliations.
  • Uses all company issued equipment including vehicle’s, cell phone, computer, credit cards, gas cards exclusively for Gaudenzia LLC business.
  • Follow the Directors instructions on methods, means and materials

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to use carpentry hand tools in a safe and accurate manner
  • Ability to operate power tools proficiently, safely
  • Experience operating related equipment such as core drills, miter saws, band saws, laser levels, power actuated nail guns, pneumatic tools such as trim nailer’s, framing guns
  • Experience working with both metal and wood studs.
  • Experience with framing, and finish trim.
  • Be proficient installing hardware including, door locks, door closers, closet door hardware, bi-folds, sliding swing doors
  • Experience hanging and installing dropped ceilings.
  • Experience installing drywall, taping, finishing and overall completion of drywall projects.
  • Experience in painting, interior and exterior of projects assigned
  • Ability to understand plumbing, electrical installations as related to bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Experience in hanging and installing kitchen cabinets.
  • Ability to install all forms of countertops, including laminate, manufactured plastics,, granite, quartz and all others.
  • Experience in demolition as related to project such as Bathrooms, Kitchens, Rehab of facilities
  • Ability to prep and install all types of flooring, hardwood, VCT, LVT, composite and most others
  • Proven ability to plan, install and complete projects in a professional manner
  • Proven ability to work cohesively in a team environment
  • Safety: Comply with, communicate and enforce National, State and Local Health and Safety laws, OSHA requirements in order to achieve a low accident rate.
  • Assist in managing the construction process using excellent and ongoing communications with the Supervisor of Maintenance & the Sr. Director of Facilities Maintenance & Construction.
  • Expertise managing small construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of the wet trades, masonry, concrete and ceramic tile wet beds.
  • Ability to use the Schluter system working in bathrooms, kitchens etc.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • HS Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 5 years working in the carpentry field
  • Experience with all facets of residential construction though not in charge.
