Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for an Interior Designer to join the GreatHouse family. In this role, this person will be responsible for the creative oversight of each project, owning the client relationship from the moment a client signs a design agreement until the construction contract is signed. This role reports directly to the Preconstruction Manager. This role is ideal for a seasoned architectural or interior designer who also has a knack for staying organized and managing people and processes. We expect that the creative supervision of design will take approximately 25% of this person’s time, and the remaining 75% of this person’s time will be spent serving their own clients.
Compensation:
  • Base salary plus quarterly profit sharing for a total annual compensation of $80,000 – $100,000 depending on experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own the client relationship through the Preconstruction process
  • Draw existing structure / footprint of space to be designed; solicit design input from clients via survey and design kickoff meeting
  • Develop a preliminary floorplan design as well as interior design, including selections for all finishes, in line with the clients’ taste and budget
  • Present designs to the client and solicit feedback
  • Collect pricing information on selections, including managing relationship with cabinet manufacturers for cabinet designs where applicable
  • Develop construction layouts with help of drafter
  • Ensure quality of design is upheld during construction by participating in critical walkthroughs: start of rough mechanicals, start of tile, punch list walkthrough. Resolve any issues / questions from the field team throughout construction, including assisting in any change orders that require design
As the senior Interior Designer on our team, you set the tone and the bar for designs for GreatHouse. It is your responsibility to make sure that all designs that we create as a company are unique, thoughtful, creative, and most importantly exciting to the client. To do so, your role may include finding and introducing new suppliers to our team, developing a more in-depth design survey for our clients, or developing trainings for newer designers to explore new design concepts and expand their skillsets
Who You Are
While we have some ideal qualifications (listed below), our main goal is to find someone who fits our company’s core values, is eager to learn, and is passionate about the same stuff we are (designing and building great houses for great people). You must be an ambitious, organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated hard worker with a deep background in interior design or architecture.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least five years of experience in the design build remodeling industry creating exquisite designs for homeowners
  • Experience frequently designing projects up to $1M in size, including single room remodels, multiple room and whole home remodels, and additions
  • Proficient in Chief Architect
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at one time and balance workload in a fast-paced environment \
  • Strong understanding of structural elements of a home as it relates to design (knowing what walls can and can’t be easily moved, understanding framing for purposes of flooring and roof pitches, etc.)
  • Possess good self-organizational and management skills and strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting and exceeding customer requirements and expectation
