Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett®), is seeking a self-motivated and highly organized entry-level
environmental professional to support ongoing site assessment and remediation projects in a hybrid role based
in Alexandria, Virginia. As a member of Mabbett’s Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) Group, you will serve
commercial, private and federal sector clients. The projects include a focus on sites following the federal CERCLA
program from initial Phase I environmental site assessments (ESAs) through remedial investigations, feasibility
studies, remediation system design, installation, system operation and long-term maintenance and monitoring
support.
This role provides the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients, including industrial/commercial firms,
large-business consulting firms, municipal agencies, and a variety of federal clients such as the Department of
Veteran Affairs, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and United States
Department of Agriculture amongst others. At the entry level, our technical support staff are expected to work
closely with a variety of Mabbett’s technical experts and project managers, conduct field data collection,
perform data analysis, prepare and revise technical reports, prepare figures & tables. The role will include
increasingly complex assignments and increasing responsibilities. Our entry level staff have opportunities to
work with Professional Engineers, Professional Geologists, and specialists across the environmental assessment
field.
The position will require involvement in all aspects of Mabbett’s site investigation and remediation projects,
including work plan development, coordination with subcontractors, environmental media sampling, monitoring
well installation, remedial oversight, remedial systems operation and maintenance, data management, and
report preparation.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills (written and verbal);
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office® suite, specifically in Word and Excel;
- Must be able to pass a federal background check, if required for specific clients and projects ;
- Ability to travel (up to 40% time), work in the field, work outdoors, and lift and carry items weighing
up to 60 lbs; and
- Driver's license and clean driving record.
The following factors include directly relevant experience that demonstrate the applicant has specific skills and
knowledge relevant to the role.
- Professional or academic experience in site assessment and remediation programs under CERCLA,
RCRA, or NEPA;
- Experience conducting environmental monitoring, sampling, and/or data interpretation;
- Proficiency in developing technical reports, figures, and tables;
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher certification;
- Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certified;
- Experience using GIS and/or CADD to present complex data;
- Experience with VBA/SQL/MS Access; and
- Desire to continue to grow technically, including new credentials, licenses, and skills.
