BIM Specialist

Reports to:  Chief Technology Officer

Status:  Non-exempt

General Description of Position: 

This is a BIM Technician, generally with 7 or more years of experience in structural modeling/drafting, who has demonstrated advanced Revit skills as well as the ability to layout structural plans and develop sections and details based on only general direction and consultation with the project engineer.

Minimum Skills and Experience:

• Strong computer aptitude including thorough knowledge of BIM programs. (ie. Revit, BIM360, AutoCAD)
• Good knowledge of structural design and materials to develop structural documents efficiently.
• Strong organization skills.
• Team Player attitude.
• Excellent communication skills.

Typical Duties:

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Each member of the BIM staff is expected to assist in duties that are required to deliver quality products on schedule.

• Performs duties of the BIM Technician.
• Independently models the structure and drafts foundation and framing plans sections and details from information provided by the project architect and general direction from the Project Engineer for projects of simple to moderate complexity.
• Has a good level of experience and proficiency in all or nearly all the primary structural materials, and a highly developed proficiency in at least one.
• May assist other drafting personnel of lesser experience in the preparation of models and documents.

• Can demonstrated ability to manage own time well and maintain a high degree of productivity.
• Set up linked models and coordinate models across disciplines.
• Daily model management, administration, and maintenance.

Relationship to Others:

Works under the Lead Engineer, but with Project Engineer's approval, may have direct contact with the client to coordinate dimensions and other aspects of the project.
