Position Description:

The Estimator Assistant is an individual who possesses strong communication and attention to detail skills. Waypoint’s Estimator Assistant position will be responsible for preparing qualified subcontractor bid invitation lists, issuing bid invitations, evaluating subcontractor proposals, helping with the development of cost estimates, performing take-offs, proposals, and other pre-construction related services.

 

Estimator Responsibilities

·         Assist with building project estimates

·         Assist with prequalification of subcontractors

·         Complete quantity take-offs and collecting material pricing

·         Regularly communicate with management, subcontractors, customers and peer groups

·         Travel to different jobsites within a designated geographical area (if needed)

·         Facilitate outreach to subcontractor and suppliers

·         Participate in pre-proposal meetings and prepare RFI’s

·         Evaluate projects for constructability

·         Solicit, obtain, and evaluate bid estimates from subcontractors

·         Help in preparing, organizing, and coordinating Request for Proposal documents

·         Support lead estimator in data input into estimating software programs

·         Perform archive filing and historical cost data gathering

 

Minimum Qualifications

·         2-5 years of experience in commercial, government, public projects.

·         B.S. degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction or in the process of obtain it.

·         Have a strong desire to become an estimator or pursue career in Construction Industry

·         Knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical or electrical discipline and a basic understanding of the other disciplines

·         Knowledge of construction means, and methods associated with the renovation of commercial and institutional buildings and site work related tasks

·         Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate

·         Knowledge of estimating and take-off techniques

·         Knowledge of estimating, scheduling and reporting software tools

·         Ability to read drawings, work well in teams and under deadlines

·         High level of proficiency with spreadsheets, email, Microsoft Office, and other software

·         Experience in government contracting is preferred
