Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire, promotion, or transfer).
- 5 years of related experience in the water / wastewater industry.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and essential functions of the position. These duties may vary depending on workload and project demands.
- Equivalent additional, directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in civil engineering design.
- Experience presenting technical concepts to municipal clients through written reports and presentations.
- Basic understanding of the design process (i.e., conceptual design through construction phase engineering)

Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) practices.
- Knowledge of engineering principles of design. Principles of design include preparation of design documents for municipal bidding.
- Knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, Etc).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information
CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions.
