ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: This position offers a competitive salary of $105,000-$135,000 (commensurate with experience) and provides the opportunity for additional earnings.

HOURS OF WORK: Base 35-hour work week

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

You direct and manage geotechnical projects including private/municipal developments, racetracks, medium and high-rise structures, infrastructure design, slope stability assessments as well as dam safety reviews. You will act as a technical expert for the team, and work towards developing practical and effective solutions for clients. You will also have the opportunity to be a business leader and work towards further developing the Geotechnical service group locally. Improving technical standards, collaborating with other Engineers, and mentoring and growing the talent pool at Cambium are also critical components of the role.

  • Project management, technical leadership, and technical design for public and private sector clients in Ontario.
  • Develop and administer project proposals, work plans, and project costing/budgeting.
  • Ensure that all assigned project components are executed in accordance with the proposed work plan unless authorization for a change is received from the client.
  • Directly responsible for the health and safety of any person working on an assignment.
  • Conduct project site inspections to ensure compliance with all safety and government regulations.
  • Directly accountable for revenue, costs and profitability, and risk management on all project tasks assigned.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and training to junior and intermediate Cambium personnel.
  • Ensure that appropriate resources are provided to enable engineering support and training support to be provided for all projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
  • Provide feedback and advice regarding the technical and structural aspects of company projects to management and other project leaders.
  • Create technical reviews and provide recommendations regarding designs and reports prepared by consulting engineers.
  • Manage client relationships


Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (in an engineering consulting environment in Ontario preferred).
  • A thorough knowledge of and ability to interpret regulations, guidelines and standards with excellent professional judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to successfully organize, prioritize and execute work in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Safety conscious and team oriented with the ability to coach, guide and mentor others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage differences and negotiate for positive outcomes.
  • Strong technical writing skills with excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
  • Experience in developing and administering project proposals, work plans, and project costing/budgeting.
  • A valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
