WSP is currently initiating a search for an Offshore Structural Engineer for onshore and offshore energy projects preferably based in our Houston, TX (9655 Katy Freeway) office.

Your Impact

  • Perform structural analysis and design of onshore and offshore facilities for energy projects. 
  • Ensure engineering designs implemented by the company meet applicable industry codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI and AISC or applicable offshore standard such as DNVGL, API RP-2A, ISO 19900 series.
  • Perform and document engineering studies, analysis, calculations, drawings and specifications in coordination other engineers. Review drawings and draw sketches using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Engineering Production: 
    • Managing structural/civil engineering design and analysis for multiple projects, including engineering schedule and budget performance, quality of engineering solutions and deliverables, and coordination of design, procurement, and construction. 
    • Serve as a structural lead for various phases of project development, from conceptual feasibility studies and cost analyses through permitting, detailed design construction, and post-construction monitoring.  
    • Perform routine Engineering and Project Control and Administration functions
    • Prepare sketches and drawings
    • Using various types of CADD design software
  • Client Focus: 
    • Develops strong relationships with and becomes a trusted partner with clients. 
    • Responsible for identifying key client interests and drivers on projects. 
    • Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns. 
    • Works to identify future client needs and how to better position WSP to best serve those needs. 
    • Provides support to business development or pursuit activities.
    • Support technical requests from current and proposed customers. 
  • Project Coordination:
    • Actively coordinates with other internal/external team members. 
    • Responsible for coordinating project schedules.
      Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology: Independently develop and apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems.
    • Quality / Continuous Improvement: Promotes a culture that is conducive to quality.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering from an accredited Engineering Program. 
  • Minimum of 1+ year of related experience after Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in working with SACS or similar structural analysis software in design and analysis of offshore structures. 
  • Engineer-in-Training certification. Qualified to achieve PE Qualification within 2 years of joining WSP.
  • Strong (proven) communication and interpersonal skills (verbal/written/presentation).
  • Good organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a group setting.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for business (approximately 10% of annual time).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience of working on Offshore wind foundation design is highly preferred.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). 
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS or equivalent.
  • Member and active participant in industry organizations.
