We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cost Estimator with a proven track record in fire fighting projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for all phases of fire fighting projects, from initial concept to final execution. This includes analyzing project requirements, identifying resources, calculating labor, material, and equipment costs, and preparing comprehensive cost reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in cost estimating, specifically within the fire fighting industry.
- Strong understanding of fire fighting systems, codes, and standards (e.g., NFPA).
- Proven ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with project management methodologies is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for fire fighting projects, including sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and other related systems.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine the scope of work and identify cost drivers.
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Research and obtain current market pricing for materials, equipment, and labor.
- Calculate labor costs based on prevailing wage rates and project schedules.
- Estimate equipment costs, including rental, purchase, and maintenance.
- Develop contingency plans for unforeseen costs.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and presentations for management review.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost estimates.
- Maintain cost databases and stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
- Participate in value engineering exercises to identify cost savings opportunities.
- Review and analyze subcontractor bids and proposals.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and proposals.
- Travel to project sites as needed to gather information and assess project conditions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
