Cost Estimation

  

Purpose of Job:  

This position reports to the Sales Technical Cost Estimator then Sales Manager and is responsible for providing cost breakdowns to the customers.

Minimum level of education / training required/certificates/licenses: 

This position requires a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.

Minimum experience required: 

This position must have experience with computers, must have knowledge of Excel, blue print & GD&T and understand how to search on the internet.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for printing and distributing various reports.

2. Assists President and/or Vice President (V.P.) Sales with sales projects.

3. Performs Excel skills at level 2

4. Knows how to operate interpretation software, converters, 3D viewers & blank estimating software as required.

5. Has a working knowledge of the Corporate Costing System

6. Prepares and compiles all necessary information to produce a quote for new part which includes being capable of developing a rough manufacturing process including strip layouts, press selection, material handling, secondary operations, Outside Service Supplier (OSS) requirements and packaging

7. Obtains information and prepares quotes for prototype parts from outside vendors

8. Prepares and compiles all necessary information to produce a quote for an existing part as a service requirement &/or engineering change

9. Interact and coordinate with sales, purchasing, weld/machine, toolroom, design, customer service or any other department affected to satisfy customer inquiries

10. Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, assist customers in obtaining requested information

11. Work directly with sales staff and assist sales personnel in obtaining information necessary to promote good customer service

12. Complete special projects as assigned by Technical Cost Estimator, VP of Sales and/or Company President

13. Comply with 5S processes and procedures for assigned areas

14. Basic Understanding and Compliance to Batesville Tool and Die (BTD) Standards and Principles.

15. Any other duties assigned

16. Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not supervise others.

Adhere to 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.

Environmental: Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by BTD. Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment. Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.

Other:  Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint.

The employee is continually required to sit, stand, type, talk, listen and walk. The employee occasionally is required to lift various sizes of parts and packages. The employee will also be required to occasionally lift up to 45lbs pounds. These physical demands are based on a typical work day. Physical demands may vary based on the task assigned that day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to noise, chemicals, moving equipment and weather.

Travel

Occasionally domestic travel may be required for this position.
