Career-defining opportunity with leading international consultancy
This is more than just a job, this is a strategic leadership opportunity for an ambitious Building Surveyor ready to fast-track their career.
Join a highly regarded international construction and property consultancy at a pivotal stage in its growth. With strong local roots and global backing, this business is investing heavily in its Belfast operation, offering talented professionals the chance to play a defining role in shaping its future.
They’re seeking a chartered Associate Building Surveyor to act as the Director’s second-in-command and lead their high-performing Belfast team. With an impressive private-sector client base and significant upcoming projects, this is a career-launching platform for anyone with Director-level ambitions.
The career opportunity
This role isn't just about technical delivery, it's about leading from the front. You’ll take on line management responsibilities, mentor junior surveyors, and represent the consultancy at the highest level with clients.
Unlike many local roles tied to public frameworks or mainland contracts, this opportunity puts you at the heart of real, local commercial projects, giving you room to build your own client relationships, grow your black book, and develop the commercial acumen essential for future directorship.
This is the first of several strategic hires in 2025, and you’ll be joining a driven, sociable, and supportive team with a strong pipeline of retail and commercial work from blue-chip private clients.
Why this role stands out
- Associate leadership position - Step into the No.2 position in a growing team. You’ll be empowered to manage people, shape project delivery, and influence regional growth strategy.
- Build your own client base - With direct exposure to private-sector clients and a focus on relationship-building, you’ll own accounts and develop the connections vital for future senior leadership.
- Escape the frameworks - No red tape or detached client bases, just high-quality local commercial projects that elevate your portfolio and your reputation.
- Real progression path - With a clear route to Associate Director, this is the ideal environment to prove your leadership capabilities in a business that promotes from within.
- Culture of growth and celebration - A fast-paced, collaborative, and rewarding environment where success is shared and progression is earned.
Key responsibilities - Lead the delivery of commercial and private-sector building surveying projects across Belfast
- Manage and mentor junior surveyors, actively developing future talent
- Drive business development activities and help shape regional BD strategy
- Build long-term client relationships and act as primary point of contact
- Oversee project resources, financials, and performance
- Deliver a full range of building surveying services including pre-acquisition reports, condition surveys, and contract administration
- Advise on dilapidations and neighbourly matters, and handle Party Wall issues
- Undertake design/specification and CAD work as required
The ideal candidate You’ll be a chartered professional (MRICS) with at least 5 years’ experience in Building Surveying, confident in both technical delivery and team management. Your natural leadership style, commercial mindset, and strong interpersonal skills will be key to success in this role.
Most importantly, you’ll bring the ambition to lead, both projects and people, while being part of a high-performance, people-first culture.
What they offer - Competitive salary and performance bonuses
- Private healthcare, pension, income protection, and life assurance
- 25 days holiday (rising with service) + buy/sell options
- Genuine progression to Associate Director and beyond
- Full support for professional development and leadership training
- Opportunity to build your own client base and leadership portfolio
