Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We’re working with a leading main contractor specialising in responsive repairs, planned maintenance, and retrofit projects for local authorities and housing associations across the UK.
With over 700 skilled operatives and a strong national presence, the business delivers high-quality refurbishment and maintenance solutions with a local focus. Over the past 20 years, they have transformed more than 5,000 tenanted properties and now boast a turnover exceeding £80 million. Their services include kitchen and bathroom replacements, electrical rewires, heating systems, disabled adaptations, external works, roofing, insulation, and more.
Due to continued growth, they are now looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing costs, contracts, and financial performance across a range of social housing and maintenance projects.
This role is ideal for someone early in their QS career who is eager to gain hands-on experience and progress within a growing, supportive business.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing valuations, cost reports, and forecasts.

Support subcontractor procurement, payments, and account reconciliation.

Track project variations and assist in change management.

Work closely with operational teams to capture cost data and monitor budgets.

Help prepare applications for payment and final accounts.

Attend site visits and client meetings as required.
Requirements:

Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related field (or working towards).

Ideally 1+ year of experience in a similar role, preferably in social housing, maintenance, or refurbishment.

Good numerical and analytical skills.

Strong communication and organisational abilities.

Eager to learn and develop professionally.

Full UK driving licence.
