Salary: Up to £35,000 + 15% weekend shift allowance (rota-based)

Hours: 39 hours per week (rota-based including 1 in 3 weekends)
Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Plumber to join our on-site facilities management team at HMP Durham. This is a permanent role offering stability, a competitive salary, and additional weekend and on-call allowances.
As part of a critical maintenance team within a secure environment, you’ll be carrying out a range of routine and reactive plumbing tasks that contribute to the safety and efficiency of the prison estate.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine and non-routine plumbing maintenance

Diagnose and repair faults in mains water supplies and domestic systems

Conduct inspections, water sampling, and risk assessments

Identify and rectify life-expired equipment and associated issues

Operate light plant equipment as required

Ensure all tasks are completed in line with health and safety protocols

Support wider estate maintenance and compliance as part of the FM team
What You’ll Need
Essential:
-
NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent)

Full UK driving licence

Proven experience in a commercial plumbing environment

Ability to work on a rota, including 1 in 3 weekends and on-call shifts

Comfortable working in a secure facility and passing security clearance
Desirable:

Legionella Control (L8) certification

Experience working within secure or high-compliance settings

Familiarity with facilities management processes
